An event to celebrate United Nations Day and the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations held in Tbilisi
The United Nation in Georgia today commemorated United Nations Day and 75 years of the United Nations.
Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Georgia Helene Sand Andresen, Ambassador of Swiss Confederation to Georgia Patric Franzen, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Georgia Maaike van Koldam, and the UN Resident Coordinator Sabine Machl addressed the participants of the event and talked about the importance of multilateralism and the role of the UN in the contemporary world.
Several prominent representatives of Georgian society sharing their vision of the future for 2045, including Nino Zambakhidze, Chairwoman of Georgian Farmers’ Association; Nikoloz Rachveli, Conductor, Director of the Georgian Philharmonic Orchestra and UNICEF National Goodwill Ambassador in Georgia; Giorgi Kekelidze, General Director of National Parliamentary Library of Georgia; Ia Sukhitashvili, Actress; Giorgi Beridze, Founder of Edison Tech Solutions; and Giorgi Targamadze, Journalist, Founder of Georgian Strategic Analysis Centre (GSAC).
The event organized at the Sheraton Grand Tbilisi Metechi Palace brought together 60 representatives of the Georgian Government, civil society, educational institutions and international organisations.
Anchors of the event were Marekhi Gvaramadze and George Taktakishvili of the Kant’s Academy.
The event is just one component of a wider UN75 campaign in Georgia, implemented in partnership with the educational platform Kant’s Academy.
